Bulbs
Most projectors used for retrofitting utilize D2S bulbs. The most common OEM bulbs are either made by Philips or Osram and are rated at about 4300K, which is a white color with some traces of yellow. A higher K (Kelvin; also known as color temperature) rating does not mean that the bulb produces more light, but rather a more blue/purple light output. In fact, 4300K produces the most amount of visible light (lumens), while the light intensity decreases with increased Kelvin rating. In general, 6000K produces a white with some traces of blue, while a higher K rating, i.e. 8000, 10000, 12000, etc produces more blue and eventually purple.
